What is Microneedling?
Microneedling is a minimally invasive skin rejuvenation treatment that includes the use of a tool called a skin pen or dermal pen. The skin pen contains fine needles that are used to puncture the skin. Each puncture creates a tiny channel that activates the production of collagen, improving the firmness and texture of the skin and reducing the appearance of scars, pores, brown spots and stretch marks.
Who is a good candidate for Microneedling?
Ideal patients for microneedling are those who wish to achieve even skin texture or reduction in the appearance of scars, pores, brown spots or stretch marks. Microneedling should not be done on skin with active acne or cystic acne, as this can cause the spread of bacteria.
What to Expect at your Microneedling appointment
Your microneedling session will be done by an experienced aesthetician. A topical anesthetic cream is applied to the face to ensure comfort. The dermaroller will then be applied to the face and treatment areas. Most patients require multiple treatments for optimal results.
Is there any downtime?
After treatment, patients will experience mild redness and swelling. These symptoms should completely clear up within 48 hours. Full results will be visible within a few weeks to a few months. Patients should avoid direct sun exposure after treatment for optimal results.
A cosmetic consultation will help to determine whether microneedling is right for you. During your consultation, your cosmetic goals and needs will be discussed, and an individual plan will be created to help achieve these goals. For more information, contact us at 717-219-9168.
