Admit it: you envy Michelle Obama’s upper arms. The First Lady’s arms are toned, sculpted and well-defined without being over muscular. Oh, to wear sleeveless dresses with such confidence!

Celebrity hard-bodies and fitness gurus inspire us all to be the best that we can be, losing weight and toning up. But what about those who worked hard, lost weight, but are left with hanging “bat wings”?  In the past, unsightly scarring kept many prospective away from Brachioplasty (arm lift) It seemed you had to be willing to trade one unattractive feature for another.

Fortunately, great advances have been made in scar management. Barbed suture technology, laser treatments, silicone-gel sheeting and other scar management treatments have eliminated the scarring concerns of women, who now willingly banish their bat wings.

But what about those who haven’t undergone incredible weight loss and have an excessive amount of hanging skin? Those men and women with full, fatty, “pudgy” arms that were not candidates for Brachioplasty. Again, thanks to advancements in technology, fat removal in the upper arms is accomplished via improved liposuction techniques including traditional hand-held, power-assisted, ultrasound-assisted, and laser-assisted, as well as nonsurgical techniques that involve “fat freezing” or “thermal melting” which reduces fat and moderately tightens skin.

Thanks to these advances in technology now, combined with good diet and exercise, more women can have arms like Michelle Obama, Jennifer Aniston, or Jillian Michaels.
