There are a lot of factors that contribute to your desired results when it comes to a breast augmentation. Here is a list of 5 things you should know about breast augmentation before you make your decision.
- They feel different than real breasts. Implants do not contain any natural breast tissue, so their feel will remain different to natural breasts. Though silicone implants feel more natural than saline implants due to their gel consistency, they still may not feel 100% like real breasts.
- Breast augmentations and reductions can affect your ability to breastfeed. If breastfeeding is in your future, keep in mind there is a chance it may not be possible with breast implants or reductions. Women who have underarm incisions or incisions in the crease of the breast usually have no problem when it comes to breast feeding. If the incision is around the areola, there is a small possibility of effecting sensitivity of the nipple-areola complex, causing difficulty with breastfeeding
- The first of many. Unfortunately, implants do not last forever, and a small percentage of women will need another surgery in 10 years or so. Of course there are also other factors that could contribute to changes in your implants. Weight loss and pregnancy can also affect your breasts, causing you to undergo another surgery.
- Recovery time. Patients will generally take five to seven days off work. If your job doesn’t require hard labor, you will be good to go back to work after that amount of time. However, strenuous activity is not permitted. Keep in mind, you will not be 100% better after that week off, but you should be feeling well enough for normal daily activities.
- You can’t go huge right away. If you’re an A cup, going to a DD may not be possible right away. You can discuss your options with Dr. Moraitis but it is your best option to start with a smaller size. Realist goals are important and your body type and skin are major factors that will influence the size that works best for you when considering implants.
It is important to discuss these matters with Dr. Moraitis and make a consultation right away if you are considering a breast augmentation or reduction. You will be on your way to newer breasts in no time!
